Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS) BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (RN-BS Completion Program). The Department offers a baccalaureate completion program for registered nurses (RN-BS) designed specifically for the graduates of the associate degree and hospital diploma nursing programs.

Students interested in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree must first apply to the University using the General UMKC application, and if accepted, will be admitted into the Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) degree, with a sub-plan of Pre-Nurse. Bachelor of Science in Nursing The programme has been designed to recognize that its graduands will have a strong clinical, biomedical and community health knowledge base in order to provide quality health care that will integrate curative, preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health care in clinical practice. The School of Nursing’s undergraduate nursing program has patient-centered care at the core of the curriculum. The School of Nursing offers three subplans for a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (Traditional BSN, RN-BSN & Accelerated Second Degree).

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is a full time cohort program that prepares nursing students to work with individuals, families and communities with varying health and health promotion needs across diverse settings. Caring and health promotion lay the foundation for the BSN curriculum. Nursing practice experiences are essential for the BSN program. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree will be awarded to students who successfully complete a minimum of (121) hours of course work. The combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing program cultivates the critical thinking skills and breadth of the sciences alongside the expertise and experience to become a registered nurse.

The accelerated BSN degree is designed for applicants who already have a bachelor’s degree (in any field).

Bachelor’s of science in nursing programs include two phases: a didactic portion, which is taught in classrooms, and a clinical learning experience. Through lectures and reading assignments, students learn to promote safe solutions and good health, prevent and manage disease, reduce risks, and improve patient outcomes.
